Looking for the best membership plugin for your WordPress website, but don’t know which one to choose?
As more and more membership plugins are developed, it becomes more difficult to know which plugin is the one that will apply to all your specifications.
Wishlist Member is a paid membership plugin that is offered as a single license ($97) and unlimited licenses ($297), both include support and access to documentation and video tutorials, while s2Member has a free version with basic features, plus a paid version (starting from $69) with more enhanced features.
Both Wishlist Member and s2Member allow you to create as many membership levels as you want, manage your members, create bundles and set the login redirection page.
The following features are also available in both Wishlist and s2Member, but with the second one they are violable only in the paid version:
You can set an expiration date and limit the subscription length to a membership level and export members.
One feature that is lack in s2Member is the social login feature, which is available only in Wishlist Member using a 3rd-party add-on called Wishlist Social Login.
If you want to offer trial periods, upsells, one-time offers or coupons, you can do that with both Wishlist Member and s2Member’s paid version.
One time offers are available with Wishlist Member depending on the shopping cart you are using.
Coupons are available in Wishlist using a paid add-on called Wishlist Coupon.
Both Wishlist Member and s2Member’s free version allow setting free and paid membership levels (paid are limited for 4 levels in the free s2Member version), total content protection, having teaser content (display content above the “read more” tag to non-members and protect the content after it to members only ), secure RSS feed and sell posts using a pay-per-post feature.
s2Member’s paid version has a content dripping feature. If you are using Wishlist Member, you will need to purchase an add-on for having the ability to drip your content (Wishlist Content Scheduler).
Shopping Carts Integrations:
When it comes to shopping carts, Wishlist has a big advantage, as they offer a lot more integrations than s2Member:
Wishlist Member allows integration with some of the most popular shopping carts, among them are: Clickbank, Authorize.net, PayPal Standard and PayPal Pro, InfusionSoft, Stripe, SamCart and more.
s2Member offers Clickbank, PayPal Standard and PayPal pro and Stripe.
In the autoresponders Wishlist also has a big advantage over s2Member as it integrates with GetResponse, Aweber, MailChimp, Constant Contact, iContact, OntraPort, Mad Mimi and more, while s2Member has integrations with GetResponse, Aweber and MailChimp only.
Wishlist Member integrates with both wooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads while s2Member does not.
Which Plugin Is Better?
It’s difficult to answer this question as there it really depends on the features and integrations you need.
The one that provides you with all the features you need is the right plugin for you.
Anyway, you should always check if the plugin has any add-ons or if it has API integration to allow you to customize it to your needs.
Wishlist Member has many add-ons, some developed by Wishlist Products and some are 3rd-party, plus the Wishlist Member plugin have API support.
s2Member does not have add-ons, but it does has API support.
