Wishlist Member vs. MagicMembers

Wishlist Member vs. MagicMembers

Looking for the best membership plugin for your WordPress website, but don’t know which one to choose?

As more and more membership plugins are developed, it becomes more difficult to know which plugin is the one that will apply to all your specifications.

In this post we provide you an in-depth one-on-one comparison of: Wishlist Member vs. MagicMembers.

General Information:

Both Wishlist Member and MagicMembers are paid membership plugins.

Wishlist Member offers a single license ($97) and unlimited licenses ($297), both include support and access to documentation and video tutorials.

MagicMembers offers single license ($97), 3 licenses ($197) and unlimited licenses ($207), all include training videos, detailed documentation and support.

Membership Features:

Both Wishlist Member and MagicMembers provide you with important membership features such as: ability to create unlimited membership levels, create bundles, set the subscription length, set the login redirection, export members and manage members.

The bundling feature in Wishlist Member is limited, you can create simple bundles using the Sequential Upgrade feature, however, you cannot create complex bundles, for example: if you want create several bundles from the same membership levels. You can, however, do that using a 3rd-party plugin called Wishlist Bundles.

Social login is not available in MagicMembers, and in Wishlist Member it’s not a built-in feature, but you can use a 3rd-party add-on called WLM Social.

Business Models:

Trial periods are possible with both Wishlist Member and MagicMembers.

Discount coupons are possible with MagicMembers and are available with Wishlist Member using a plugin called Wishlist Coupon ($30).

Upsells and one time offers are not possible with MagicMembers but are possible with Wishlist Member, though it depends on the shopping cart you are using, for example: if you are using Clickbank, Wishlist supports their Pitch Plus feature and it also supports upsells with Stripe.

Protection Settings:

Both Wishlist and MagicMembers support the creation of free and paid memberships, the ability to display “teaser” content for non-members (this is the content above the “read more” tag, all content after it will be protected for members only), secure your RSS feed and allow pay-per-post feature.

Content dripping is available in MagicMembers, and also with Wishlist Member, but with Wishlist it is not built-in, and you will need to purchase an add-on (developed by Wishlist Products) – Wishlist Content Scheduler ($40).

Pay-per-view is available in MagicMembers only.

Which Plugin Is Better?

It’s difficult to answer this question as there it really depends on the features and integrations you need.

The one that provides you with all the features you need is the right plugin for you.

Both plugins provide good documentation with tutorials and training and both have API support that allows you to extend the plugin and customize it to your needs.

Wishlist Member also has a decent amount of add-ons available, some developed by Wishlist Products, the company behind Wishlist Member, and some developed by 3rd-party companies.

Both plugins offer 30-day money back guarantee, so you can get a refund in case the plugin you purchased does not suit your needs.
