Wishlist Member vs. Digital Access Pass

Wishlist Member vs. Digital Access Pass

Looking for the best membership plugin for your WordPress website, but don’t know which one to choose?

As more and more membership plugins are developed, it becomes more difficult to know which plugin is the one that will apply to all your specifications.

In this post we provide you an in-depth one-on-one comparison of: Wishlist Member vs. Digital Access Pass.

General Information:

Both Wishlist Member and Digital Access Pass are paid membership plugins.

Wishlist Member offers a single license ($97) and unlimited licenses ($297), both include support and access to documentation and video tutorials.

Digital Access Pass offers a monthly subscription for all features at $39.99/month or a one-time fee for 1 license ($167) or unlimited licenses ($297 / $497).

Membership Features:

Both Wishlist Member and Digital Access Pass provide you with important membership features such as: ability to create unlimited membership levels, create bundles, set the subscription length, set the login redirection, export members, manage members and allow social login.

Creating bundles and allow social login can be done in Wishlist Member using paid add-ons:

The bundling feature in Wishlist Member is limited, you can create simple bundles using the Sequential Upgrade feature, however, you cannot create complex bundles, for example: if you want create several bundles from the same membership levels. You can, however, do that using a 3rd-party plugin called Wishlist Bundles.

Social login is not available in MagicMembers, and in Wishlist Member it’s not a built-in feature, but you can use a 3rd-party add-on called WLM Social.

Business Models:

Trial periods are possible with both plugins.

Upsells, one-time offers and discount coupon creation are built-in features in Digital Access Pass.

With Wishlist Member you will need to purchase an add-on for creating coupons , the add-on is called Wishlist Coupon ($30).

And regarding the upsells and one-time offers, it is possible with Wishlist, however, it depends on the shopping cart you are using, for example: if you are using Clickbank, Wishlist supports their Pitch Plus feature and it also supports upsells with Stripe.

Protection Settings:

Both Wishlist and Digital Access Pass support the creation of free and paid memberships, the ability to display “teaser” content for non-members (this is the content above the “read more” tag, all content after it will be protected for members only), secure your RSS feed and allow pay-per-post feature.

Content dripping is available in Digital Access Pass, and also with Wishlist Member, but with Wishlist it is not built-in, and you will need to purchase an add-on (developed by Wishlist Products) – Wishlist Content Scheduler ($40).

Pay-per-view is available in Digital Access Pass only.

Shopping Carts Integrations:

Both Wishlist Member and Digital Access Pass integrate with: ClickBank, PayPal Standard and PayPal Pro, Authorize.net, InfusionSoft, Stripe, 1ShoppingCart, JVZoo, 2CheckOut and SamCart.

Neither of them integrate with BrainTree.

Autoresponders that integrate with Digital Access Pass: GetResponse, Aweber, MailChimp, iContact and OntraPort.

Affiliate Platforms Integrations:

If you are looking to integrate your membership site with an affiliate program you should know that DAP (Digital Access Pass) offers a built-in affiliate module in all packages and it includes: 2-tier affiliate program, “instant affiliate” feature that turn all members to affiliates automatically, different payment options: per-sale, per-lead, lifetime affiliate commissions etc.

Wishlist Member does not have a built-in affiliate module, but it does offer integration with the most popular affiliate plugins, including: iDevAffiliate, AffiliateWP and Affiliate Royale.

eCommerce Platforms Integrations:

Wishlist Member integrates with 2 of the most popular eCommerce platforms: WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads

DAP integrates with WooCommerce but not with Easy Digital Downloads.

Forums Integrations:

DAP offers integrations with the most popular forums, including: BuddyPress, bbPress, SimplePress and Mingle forum, while Wishlist Member has an integration with SimplePress only.

Which Plugin Is Better?

It’s difficult to answer this question as there it really depends on the features and integrations you need.

The one that provides you with all the features you need is the right plugin for you.

Both plugins provide good documentation with tutorials and training.

API support is offered only by Wishlist Member, the API support will allow you to extend the plugin, add more features to it and customize it to your needs in the future.

Both Wishlist and DAP offer 30-day money back guarantee, so if you are not sure which plugin will be the right one for your membership site’s model, know that you can ask for a refund.
